BACKGROUND: The Planning Board studies Orange County and surrounding areas to determine objectives in the development of the County. It prepares and recommends plans to achieve that development, including the suggesting of policies, ordinances, and procedures. It reviews development applications and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. Due to the nature of its work, the Planning Board does not make recommendations for appointments. The Board of County Commissioners appoints all twelve (12) members. I first moved here in 1963. 1 have lived in several parts of the county, from the southern towns and surrounding countryside to the far northern area of Little River Township. I have worked here, attended school and college here, raised my children here, enjoyed the outdoor spaces and the cultural events.... Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board I think it's important to have people on the board that know what the county was like in the past, to be aware of the natural and cultural resources of the county, in order to take county into the future in a thoughtful manner.
