BACKGROUND: The Commission for the Environment advises the Board of Commissioners on matters affecting the environment with particular emphasis on protection. It educates public and local officials on environmental issues and performs special studies and projects. It also recommends environmental initiatives and study changes in environmental science and local and federal regulations. The Board of County Commissioners appoints all fifteen (15) At-Large members. Additionally, I have volunteered as an activity coordinator for elderly at rest homes, Meals on Wheels and help take care of several friends from church. How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? I have lived my entire life in North Carolina and have been volunteering with the elderly since I was in high school. I believe I will bring a positive energy to the board. None Commission for the Environment Please explain how your background, education and experience is relevant to this board I started the first Enviornmental Awareness Club at my high school in Richmond County in 1992, well before anyone knew what a recycle bin was. I have always been a fierce advocate for the protecting our planet. Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board I believe serving on this board will help me hone my skills to be a better partner with Earth and help educate others to do the same. I am in law enforcement and people do not typically associate me with a tree hugger, I believe my ability to connect with all different types of people can help others see the value of doing our part.
