PURPOSE: To consider making two new appointments to the Recreation and Parks Advisory
Council.
BACKGROUND: There is one At-Large Vacancy and One Hillsborough Town Limits vacancy
on the RPAC. The Clerk's Office has received a recommendation from the RPAC, to appoint
Denise Dickinson and Floyd Bridgwater. If appointed, Ms. Dickinson would be serving a partial
term, which would end, 3/31/2007, and Mr. Bridgwater would be serving a first full term, which
would end 3/31/2008.

unanimously recommends Floyd Bridgewater to fill the at -large position vacated recently by the
expiration of Tony Britt's term
The criteria for this position aze:
• That the applicant selected be a resident of Orange County, that he/she show an active interest in
the development and improvement of recreational opportunities and pazks in Orange County,
• That he/she possess experience or training in recreational activities
• That be/she possess experience or training or demonstrated interest in parks
• That the applicant selected be willing to commit to active participation on the Council
hr addition, the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council is committed to increasing the diversity of
Council members and committed to preserving a geographical balance of representation whenever
possible.
It is the feeling of the Council that Mr. Bridgewater will provide valuab]e input as a member because:
• He has experience in the areas of surveying, engineering and forest resources, any of which may
prove useful in the work of the council as it relates to the pazk development process..
• He has indicated that he is a Native American and the council is committed to increasing our
diversity as a body as well as in those whom we serve.
