THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MET ON MONDAY: September 18, 2023 at
Hillsborough Commons.
BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS PRESENT: Pat Garavaglia, Jamezetta Bedford, Jane Garrett,
and Oscar Fleming.
GUEST: None
BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS ABSENT: Ann Wilkerson.
STAFF PRESENT: Nancy Coston, Social Services Director.
I. Call to Order and Introductions
DSS Chair, Jane Garrett, called the meeting to order at 4:12 pm.

IV. Agenda Changes
None.
V. Action Items
On a motion by Pat Garavaglia, the Board approved the minutes of August 21, 2023. Oscar Fleming
seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent.
VI. Items for Discussion and/or Decision
1. Executive Session
Oscar Fleming made a motion that the Board move into Executive Session pursuant to §
143-318.11(a)(6). Pat Garavaglia seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent.
VII. Announcements
Jamezetta Bedford moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:40 pm. Oscar Fleming seconded the motion. The motion
was carried without dissent.
