SUBJECT: Appointment of Travis Myren as Orange County Manager and Authorize Entry
into an Employment Agreement

PURPOSE: To appoint Travis Myren to the office of County Manager and authorize the Chair to
sign an employment agreement.
BACKGROUND: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley will retire July 17, 2024 after 10 years of
employment with Orange County. In considering how to fill the vacancy, the Board of
Commissioners determined to appoint current Deputy County Manager Travis Myren as County
Manager.
Some key terms of the employment agreement:
• $252,000 annual salary
• $4,800 annual auto allowance
• Health, life, dental, vision insurance similar to other County employees
• Retiree health insurance similar to other County employees should employee retire from
Orange County
• Annual Leave accrual at the same rate as an employee with 20 years' employment
• Five months' salary as severance should employee be terminated without cause
• $85 monthly cell phone stipend
FINANCIAL IMPACT: As detailed above, $252,000 salary, $4,800 auto allowance, and
approximately $24,000 in benefit costs annually.
SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated
with this appointment.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal
impact associated with this appointment.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Chair recommends the Board appoint Travis Myren to the office
of County Manager effective July 17, 2024 at 5.00 p.m., and authorize the Chair to execute the
employment agreement.
