PURPOSE: To consider appointments to the Transportation Services Board (TSB) that include
a representative from the County Manager's Office and Board of County Commissioners.
BACKGROUND: The Transportation Services Board by-laws were revised and approved by the
BOCC on December 1, 2003, The revisions to the by-laws included changes in the membership
composition and length of terms, which require new appointments. The terms of members on
the Transportation Services Board are for three years each, which are staggered at the initial
appointments to provide for continuity of experience, The BOCC Chair sent a letter to Chapel
Hill Transit, Triangle Transit Authority (TTA), Durham Technical Community College and the
Employment Security Commission to invite them to be non-voting representatives.
Ten member agency nominations are as follows:
1, Orange County Planning Department- Karen Lincoln
2, Economic Development Commission - Dianne Reid
3. Emergency Medical Services - Marsha Adams
4, O.P.C, Area Programs - Judy Romanowski
5. Orange County Department on Aging - Jerry Passmore
6. Orange County Department of Social Services - Nancy Coston
7, Orange County Health Department - Darrell Renfroe
8, Orange County Recreation and Parks - Lisa Berley
9. Orange Enterprises - Judy Stroupe
10 .Town of Hillsborough - Selection in process
Two liaison members chosen by the Board of County Commissioners are:
1, County Commissioner or designee - Board appointment
2. County Commissioner or Manager's Office
or designee - Board appointment
Five At-Large residents of Orange County (priority to those in rural areas and/or experience in
the fields of private transit operation, business, faith and disability communities, child care
providers and health care providers) are recommended as follows:
1. At-large member -Mike Eyster (Health Care -Piedmont Health Services)
2. At-large member -Vacant (future appointment -Recruitment being done)
3. At-large member -Vacant (future appointment -Recruitment being done)
4. At-large member -Vacant (future appointment -Recruitment being done)
5.. At-large member -Vacant (future appointment -Recruitment being done)
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board consider making the
necessary appointments as approved in the Transportation Services Board by-laws on
December 1, 2003.
