T. A. Burton, Division Engineer, presented each Commissioner with a copy of said program and
the program was discussed road by road.
Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Smith, the North Carolina State
Highway 1964-1965 Secondary Road Program for Orange County was unanimously adopted.
Brady Durham, Charlie Atwater and John H. Williams, representatives from the White Cross
Community, talked with Mr. Burton concerning Road #1951. Said road had not been included in the
road program for the past year, and the representatives requested that paving of said road to
the Chatham County line be included in the 1964-1965 program. Mr. Burton guaranteed consideration
of said road for the coming year.
Upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and unanimously
adopted, Wesley Wallace of Dogwood Acres was named to fill the unexpired term of Dr. Ray Burns on
the Chapel Hill Planning Board.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.

June 27, 1964
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Monday, June 27, 1964, at 8:00 o'clock P.M.,
the Commissioners Room in the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C., to consider the proposed 1964-1965
Members Present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, Gordon Cleveland,
Henry S. Walker and Carl M. Smith.
Members absent: None.
Members of the County Board of Education and G. Paul Carr, Superintendent, were present and
iiscussed with the Board a proposed 1964-1965 budget for the County School System.
At the conclusion of this discussion, the meeting was adjourned.

June 19, 1964
The Board discussed with Mr. Burton petitions which had been filed for Lakewood Drive, Collins
Avenue, and Jones Street (West Hill Elementary School) and Rogers Drive and Lawrence Road Extention.
Mr. Burton stated that these petitions would be ceconsidered after further investigation and that the
Board would be notified of the Highway Commission's decision. He further stated 41s concern for the
West Hill Elementary School roads.
