Sheriff Knight reported that he had on occasion been mumaoned to these premises, but that his jurisdiction did not include this area. It was agreed that a letter should go from the County Board to the Town of Hillsboro concerning this mattes. There being no further husiness to come before the Board, this meeting was adjourned. Donald Stanford Chairman Betty June Hayes Clerk Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners June 19, 1964 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday, June 19, 1964, at 10:00 o'clock A.M., in the Commissioners Room in the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. 0. Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, Gordon Cleveland, Henry S. Walker and Carl M. Smith. Members absent: None. T. A. Burton, C. I. Walters, Paul Welsh, J. B. Taylor and Earl Hoover, representatives of the Seventh Division of the North Carolina Highway Commission, appeared before the Board to present the North Carolina State Highway, 1964-1%5 Secondary Road Program for Orange County. A. Burton, Division Engineer, presented each Commissioner with a copy of said program and the program was discussed road by road. Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Smith, the North Cain line State Highway 1964-1965 Secondary Road Program for Orange County was unanimously adopted. Brady Durham, Charlie Atwater and John H. Williams, representatives from the White Cross Community, talked with Mr. Burton concerning Road #1951. Said road bad not been included in the road program for the past year, and the representatives requested that paving of said road to the Chatham County line be included in the 1964-1965 program. Mr. Burton guaranteed consideration of said road for the coming year. Upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and unanimously adopted, Wesley Wallace of Dogwood Acres was named to fill the unexpired term of Dr. Ray Burns on the Chapel Hill Planning Board. There being no further business to come before the Boar, the meeting was adjourned. # See below for addition to these minutes. C.,.to consider the proposed 1964-1965 Members Present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, Gordon Cleveland, S. Walker and Carl M. Smith. Members absent: None. Members of the County Boar of Education and G. Paul Carr, Superintendent, were present and sed with the Boar a proposed 1964-1965 budget for the County School System. Gat tis, Acting Clerk June 19, 1964------"--------- - ---- --------------------------------------------------------------'--- The Board discussed with Mr. Burton petitions which had been filed for Lakewood Drive, Collins Avenue, and Jones Street (West Hill Elementary School) and Rogers Drive and Lawrence Road Extention. Mr. Burton stated that these petitions would be reconsidered after further investigation and that the Boar would be notified of the Highway Commission's decision. He further stated his concern for the West Hill Elementary School roads.
