CASA has plot for it but is working to get 72 AH units there. . . town of Charlottesville, VA passed AH resolution for college town to keep people in place there. . . did it by focusing on racial equity v. property values in check (financial approach)... got it passed and not as people griped as they expected Weatherly-Rosner: Question: what do they mean by AH . . . immediately think of giant apt complex that has all of the low-income people concentrated in one area away from everyone else. . . would like to see breaking up of such funding into smaller units so that it can be dispersed throughout the community Big frustration about being on the system is that I have to stay very low-income to be okay, so feels kind of stuck. How could it be designed differently to allow for upward mobility? Rosser informs that OCHA has been out of compliance for not having a board of residents who meets to discuss issues and concerns. OCHA Board could work on devising recruitment strategy. Weatherly-Rosner likes that idea Sykes: Carrboro had something similar back in 2017 Joint meeting for AHAB Rosser suggests requesting time to present at their board at one of their lighter meetings, then counting that as OCHA's regular meeting (also being sure to have light work for ourselves that month) Mahood, Murdock-Doherty like the idea Murdock-Doherty. . . Is there some way for us to tackle availability of units to increase inventory? Rosser suggests inviting Housing Access Coordinator to meeting to discuss ways we can potentially help with outreach. . . Mahood proposes April/May to do this For March. . . HOTMA and deciding on Waitlist. . . also R.A.B. update.
