The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, February 10,
1964, at 10:00 o'clock A.M., in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse in Hillsboro,. N. C.
Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, Gordon Cleveland,
Carl M. Smith, and Heruv S. Walker.
Members absent: None.

The purpose of this meeting was to hear a request from the Orange County Bas Association
concerning additional terms of Criminal Court.
Gordon Battle, Attorney, represented the Bar Association in its request that three
additional terms of Criminal Court be secured as soon as possible to expedite the trial of cases
on the congested Criminal Court Calendar. Mr. Battle suggested that these terms of court be
scheduled for the weeks of March 2, 1964, March 9, 1964, and H?roh 16, 1964. Discussion ensued
on this request.
Upon motion of Cormissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and unanimously
adopted, the Clerk was authorized to contact the Chief Justice and request that-the proposed
terms of Criminal Court be scheduled.
Juries were drawn for the following terms of court:
March 2, 1964, Criminal Term 75 names
March 9, 1964, Criminal Term 75 names
parch 16, 1964, Criminal Term 80 names
April 13, 1964, Criminal Term 76 names
April 20, 1964, Criminal Term 76 names
There being no further business to come before the Board, said meeting was adjourned
to meet again in special session on Monday, February 17, 1964, in the Commissioners Room at the
Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C.
