North Carolina lawmakers continue to make progress in the effort to legalize North Carolina sports betting.
There are a few in-person sports betting locations in the Tar Heel State, but efforts in 2022 to legalize mobile
sports betting in North Carolina were halted because the proposed bill would have prohibited wagering on
college sports.
Nigel Wheeler, General Counsel
Nigel Wheeler is in his third season as the Hurricanes' general counsel. Wheeler primarily
handles the drafting, review and analysis of contracts and assists the hockey operations
department with contract negotiations. He also provides input on various business decisions.
