6:32 3. Approval of Minutes: August 23r`t, 2023, meeting(Attachment 1)
6:35 4. Items for Decision:
a. Ridge Road School: hold Public Hearing to take public comments
regarding the proposed nomination of the Ridge Road School to
the National Register of Historic Places (Attachment 2)
b. Ridge Road School: Formal motion by HPC to find that the
property meets the criteria for listing in the National Register and
recommendation for BOCC to sign at their Oct. 3 meeting
(Attachment 3)
6:35 5. Discussion Items:
a. Davis Farm Cotton Gin historic landmark: upcoming joint public
hearing with the BOCC on Oct. 17th; headcount of members who
will be able to attend
b. County-owned historic building updates: Dickson House, Old
Courthouse, Blackwood Farm, Cate Farm, Laws House, & others
c. Staff report/updates from SHPO training for HPC staff on Sept.
25th.
d. CLG virtual training: reminder for at least 2 members to complete
viewing three training videos and filling out training reports by
Sept. 30 to maintain our Certified Local Government status
e. Dates for Field trip: Tour of Old Orange County Courthouse
including clock tower; other possible field trips

a. Moorefields public archaeology day moved to Sept. 30
b. Book Project: funding and schedule
c. Open air time for other new information by members/staff
