BACKGROUND: The Orange Unified Transportation Board (OUTBoard) advises the Orange County Board of County Commissioners on the overall planning and programming of transportation improvements in the County. The Board of County Commissioners appoints all fourteen (14) members, with representation from each of the County's townships. The OUTBoard does not make recommendations. How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? I've lived through significant growth in the DFW metroplex. As Orange County continues to grow at a rapid pace, I can lend my voice as someone who has experienced it first hand as decisions are made for our county. From 2008 to 2012, 1 was national marketing manager for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, coauthoring several publications to raise awareness for more transportation funding.) also worked with Congress and the states in implementing the American Resource and Recovery Act. In the 1980s and 1990s, I was director of public affairs for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, including the Transportation Planning Board, where I assisted in the development of the TIP, Clean Air plan, and other planning tools. Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board I have real world expertise in the area of transportation planning, research, and implementation that might be helpful as the OUTBoard provides guidance to the Orange County Commissioners. How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? My background in transportation includes bike-ped, planning, local, state, and federal requirements, and air quality. I am also a resident of Hillsborough. I also familiar with environmental justice issues. I feel I can bring some knowledge and insight to the conversation.
