PURPOSE: To consider changes to the Board of Commissioners' meeting calendar for 2023.
BACKGROUND: Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-40, the Board of County
Commissioners must fix the time and place of its meetings or provide a notice of any change
in the Meeting Schedule.
It is proposed that the Board hold a closed session on September 27, 2023 for personnel
evaluations. The closed session will be held at the Whitted Building in the Donna Baker Meeting
Room at 7:00 p.m.
As previously announced in a public notice dated August 23, 2023, the Board will conduct the
September 12, 2023 work session and the September 19 and October 17, 2023 Business
meetings in the Donna Baker Meeting Room at the Whitted Building. These meetings were
previously scheduled to be held at the Southern Human Services Center in Chapel Hill but were
relocated due to building renovations.
There are no other proposed changes to the Board of Commissioners' 2023 meeting calendar.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item.
SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated
with this item.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal
impact associated with this item.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board amend its meeting calendar
for 2023 to hold a closed session at the Whitted Building in the Donna Baker Meeting Room at
7:00 p.m on September 27, 2023, and to conduct the September 12, 2023 work session and
the September 19 and October 17, 2023 Business meetings in the Donna Baker Meeting Room
at the Whitted Building.
