PURPOSE: To consider making one reappointment to the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation
Commission,
BACKGROUND: The Clerk's Office has received a recommendation from the Chapel Hill
Parks and Recreation Commission for Pete Schwartz. Mr. Schwartz's term on the commission
expired 6/30/2005. Mr. Schwartz wishes to be reappointed and he is eligible. If reappointed,
Mr. Schwartz will be serving a second full term, ending 06/30/2008.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making one reappointment to the Chapel Hill Parks and
Recreation Commission, as the Board may desire.

As you know, Pete Schwartz's term on the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Commission expired earlier
this summer, on June 30. Mr. Schwartz has reapplied to serve another term as the Orange County
representative on the Town board. Because of his significant contributions to the Commission during the
past three years, the Town Parks and Recreation Commission strongly endorses Mr. Schwartz's
reappointment. Enclosed, please find the August 17 Commission recommendation to reappoint Mr.
Schwartz to this position.
I would like to add that I have worked closely with Mr. Schwartz during his term and have benefited from
his professional knowledge and his attitude toward community service. I would feel honored to continue
working with him if he is reappointed.
Mr. Schwartz maintained a strong attendance record during his first term as the County representative on the
Town board. Thank you for your assistance in this appointment process.

At the August 17, 2005 meeting of the Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Commission,
the Connnission voted unanimously (7-0) to recommend that Pete Schwartz be reappointed to fill
the County seat on the Town Commission.
The Commission appreciates the opportunity to review and make recormnendations
regarding the County seat on the Commission.
