PURPOSE: To award two housing rehabilitation contracts for the CDBG Housing Rehabilitation
Program.
BACKGROUND: The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids from
qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating in the County's Housing Rehabtlitation
Program. The informal bidding process is governed by the North Carolina General Statues
§143-131 and does not require a minimum number of bids. Additionally, present program
procedures provide that housing rehabilitation contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible
bidder. Additionally, all contractors participating in the County's Rehabilitation Program are
required to ufilize currant deconstruction and material recycling methods during the repair
Process,
Sealed bids were solicited from participating contractors on April 25, 2002. Bid results are
attached, Three bids were received for each unit with Triple J Construction Company
submitting the lowest bid for each dwelling unit. Triple J Construction has been woriung with
this program for approximately five years.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The CDBG Progmm provides total funding for this program.
