PURPOSE: To consider appointments to the Commission for Women (CFW).
BACKGROUND: There are eight vacant seats on the Commission far Women,
Four recommendations have been submitted by the Membership Subcommittee for these
vacancies, as follows:

The Orange County Commission for Women has reviewed all current applicants For
membership in the Commmission for Women and reconm-rends Ms. Tracy Cepeda for the
Non-Chapel Hill/Hillsborough (06-30-OS) position.
Ms. Cepeda is a resident of Cheeks Township..
The criteria for this position are that the applicant be a resident of Orange County, show
an active interest in advocating for women, improving the quality of life for° women in
Orange County, and a willingness and ability to attend the Commission's meetings and
participate in its projects.
In addition, the Conunission for Women is conunitted to increasing the diversity of
Commission members and conunitted to preserving a geographical balance of
representation whenever possible.
We expect that Ms. Cepeda will be a valuable member given her residency in Mebane, a
geographical area Chat currently does not have representation on our° Commission and one
that is growing rapidly. Her' professional experience as Associate Director of Child
Missions and Teen Living, part of the Eastern Piedmont Outreach Network, will bring
community contacts that we need, azrd her contacts with the Hispania community will
prove to be most beneficial to our Commission.
