HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda - 06-06-2023; 8-h - Contract Renewal with Central Square Technologies 1 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Meeting Date: June 6, 2023 Action Agenda Item No. 8-h SUBJECT: Contract Renewal with Central Square Technologies DEPARTMENT: Emergency Services (ES) and Information Technologies (IT) ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: Kirby Saunders, 919-245-6123 Jim Northrup, 919-245-2276 PURPOSE: To approve and authorize the Manager to sign a one year software maintenance and support contract renewal with Central Square Technologies, LLC. BACKGROUND: Orange County Emergency Services uses a software application provided by Central Square Technologies for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and 911 center operations. This application has been in use over nine (9) years, and use of the application requires annual fees for licensing and technical support. For standardization and compatibility, this contract requires an exception to the County's purchasing rules because the licensing and technical support can only be purchased from Central Square Technologies, LLC. The service is only provided by Central Square Technologies, LLC, and there are no resellers of this service. This renewal contract will cover licensing and technical support for a one-year period beginning in August 2023. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the services covered by the contract renewal is $116,417.74. SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal impact is applicable to this item: • CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: The following Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal impact is applicable to this item: • ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND WASTE REDUCTION Initiate policies and programs that: 1) conserve energy; 2) reduce resource consumption; 3) increase the use of recycled and renewable resources; and 4) minimize waste stream impacts on the environment. This application reduces and in some cases eliminates paper use and creates a more efficient workplace. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve this contract renewal and authorize the Manager to execute the contract and any future amendments.
