HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19630610:313 The Board had requested that the Coroner, Allen Walker, Jr., be present at their meeting on June 3rd for the purpose of further discussing with Mr. Walker and any other interested persons the present Coroner's System. Allen Walker, Sr, and Allen Walker, Jr. appeared and.expressed their opinions concerning the Coroner's System and the Medical Examiner's System. A discussion ensued following the Walker's presentation. Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and unanimously adopted, the per diem of the Coroner was to be raised 20%. This raise is to become immediately effective. The following schedule of special meetings was adopted: 1. June 10th at 10 a.m. meet with the District Highway Commission 2. June 17th at 7 p.m. to commence a study of the 1963-1964 budget 3. June 18th at 8 p.m. to continue budget session. There being no further business this meeting was adjourned. Betty June Hayes, Clerk and S. M. Gattis, Acting Clerk Donald Stanford Chairman Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners June lo, 1963 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, June 10, 1963, at 10 o'clock a.m. in the Commissionera room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. Members Present. Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, Gordon Cleveland, Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker. Members absent none. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss with officials of the Highway Department the proposed secondary road program for the coming year. The Board was notified by officials of the Highway Department that this meeting had been cancelled. Jessie Trowbridge, Home Demonstration Agent, reported that she and her district agent recommended Mrs. Louise Reckenwold as a replacement for Mrs. Frances Danek. Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Walker, and unanimously adopted, Mrs. Reckenwold was employed as Assistant Home Demonstration Agent. The salary to be the some as that presently being paid Mrs. Denek. There being no further business this meeting was adjourned to meet again-on Monday, June 17th. Donald Stanford S. M. Gattis Chairman Acting Clerk Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners June 17, 1963 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, June 17, 1963, at 7 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. Members Present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, Gordon Cleveland, Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker. Members absent: None The purpose of this meeting wee to commence study of the 1963-1964 budget. Dr. Howard Thompson, Supt. of the Chapel Hill School Unit, and members of the Board of Trustees of said Unit presented the 1963-1961 Current Expense and Capital Outlay requests. The Current Expense request for $178,247.00 is a per capita request of $42.00 based upon an enrollment of 4,247 students. Details of this request are shown in the budget filed with the Count Accountant by the Supt, of the Chapel Hill School Unit. The Ca ital Outlay request of $234,093.00 is shown in detail also in the budget whic? is filed with the County Accountant.
