PURPOSE: To authorize on a permanent basis the increase in hours far the two Assistant to
the Clerk positions in the Clerk's Office from permanent part time (20 hours) to permanent full
time (40 hours).
BACKGROUND: Since 2001, the Clerk has used temporary hours to maintain the functions of
the two permanent part time Assistant to the Clerk positions at the full time level. This has been
necessary to address workload and has proven beneficial to the function of the Clerk's office.
One of the Assistant to the Clerk positions is becoming vacant. The Board's approval of the
position as permanent full time will enable the Clerk to recruit for the position on this permanent
full time basis.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. The funds to maintain the two Assistant to the Clerk positions at
the full time level are currently budgeted in the Clerk's Office and no additional funds are
required.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board authorize the two
Assistant to the Clerk positions as permanent full time.
