New Business
- ASAB New Member Orientation
o Martha Bordogna reviewed the ASAB Policies & Procedures and Orange County
BOCC Advisory Board Policy.
■ There was discussion and request by the ASAB that there be improved
collegiality with County Manager.
■ There was discussion clarifying:
• the ASAB charge;
• the means and subject matter that ASAB members are allowed to
discuss with the public; and
• the need to educate the community as to how to reach ASAB members
if they have questions or concerns that they would like to share.
o Because of time limitations Allan Polak moved(Dawn Roberts 2nd) to delay the
remainder of the ASAB New Member Orientation until the next meeting. The motion
carried with all Ayes.
- Options for auxiliary groups affiliated with OCAS
o Paula Greeno disclosed a potential conflict of interest as the Executive Director of
Fluff Responders Animal Rescue, Inc. which could be competing with OCAS-
affiliated auxiliary groups for donations and grants.
o Sandra Strong reviewed the history of the existing Friends of OCAS nonprofit group
run by Elliot Kramer.
o Greg Ceseretti shared his experience with auxiliary groups at Wake County.
o The ASAB discussed some pros and cons of such groups.

- Roger van der Horst application for the Town of Hillsborough slot
o The ASAB reviewed Roger van der Horst's application and he expressed reservations
about joining the ASAB. Alan Polak asked Mr. van der Horst if he would like to
postpone consideration of his application until the next meeting and he replied in the
affirmative.
