PURPOSE: To consider an appointment/appointments to the Commission for the Environment
(CFE).
BACKGROUND: There are now two At-Large vacancies on the Commission for the
Environment with the recent resignation of Ms, Cara M. Crider.
One At-Large position expires 12/31/04 (Ms. Crisler's).
One At-Large position expires 12/31/06, (This was Mr, Charles C, Daniel's, III, position, who
was moved to position number 5, by BOCC action an 12/1/03 - to take Mr. Daniel Okun's place
upon Mr. Okun's completion of two terms,l2/31/03,)
Several volunteer applications have been received by the Clerk's office for these vacancies
and are attached..
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None,
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making appointments to the Commission for the
Environment as the Board may decide,
Position number 7 is At-Large, with a partial term to expire December 31, 2004,.
Position number 13 is At-Large, for a full three-year term, which would expire December 31,
2006,

Director of NC Sustainable Energy Association. North Carolina Sustainable Energy
Association is working to create a sustainable energy future by promoting renewable
energy technologies including solar, wind, micro-hydro, geothermal, biofuels and energy
efficiency. Since 1978, NCSEA has conducted countless workshops, solar home tours
and Earth Day events, educating tens of thousands of North Carolinians. NCSEA is also
a takeholder in the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities Program, which focuses on
increasing the availability and use of alternative fuel vehicles. With NCSEA's strong

a significant tax credit (35%) far solar and other renewable energy systems in the state.
