PURPOSE: To consider scheduling a work session on February 23, 2004 to discuss non-public
hearing items.
BACKGROUND: The next regular quarterly public hearing is scheduled for February 23, 2004;
however, there are no items proposed for public hearing. There are several items in need of
review and discussion and as this meeting time is already scheduled, Staff is proposing a work
session be held to discuss the following:
Update on Agricultural Business Options Project: Planning and Economic
Development staff will present a short progress report. This will include a listing of
proposed land uses (new and existing) relating to agriculture, a recommended permitting
process, and a series of definitions. Staff requests input and permission to move forward
with preparation of amendments for presentation at an upcoming public hearing.
2. Update on Comprehensive Plan - Land Use Element: Planning staff will present a
progress report on township outreach activities and timeframe on a future public hearing
proposal.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this decision.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Administration recommends a work session be scheduled for
February 23, 2004 in the time originally allotted for the Quarterly Public Hearing to discuss the
items listed above plus other items the Board may wish to add.
