BACKGROUND: Ms. Terri Allred, member of the Commission for Women, representing the Township of Hillsborough, has requested a six-month leave of absence due to personal circumstances. Pursuant to the Orange County Resolution regarding Appointment and Orientation Process for Boards and Commissions, amended June 6, 2000, Item No. 7, regarding attendance policy: "A leave of absence may be granted for extraordinary circumstances, such as illness or personal circumstances. This request must be made in writing to the Board of County Commissioners." Ms. Allred has made a written request to the Board of Commissioners (see attached letter). She was appointed in March, 2001: She has had good attendance in the past, and notified Staff each time she was going to be absept. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None - RECOMMENDATION(S): Grant Ms. Allred a six-month leave of absence from the Commission for Women, commencing with the April 2002 meeting. �. o C,-C. I have found it a valuable experience personally and professionally as the Executive Director of The Women's Center. I am writing to request a 6 month leave of absence from my duties on the Commission for Women. I am currently entering my third trimester of pregnancy with my second child. In addition,my mother has been seriously ill following a stroke last April. I am traveling to Winston- Salem most weekends to help care for her. I will be forced to resign from the Commission for Women if I am not able to take a leave of absence during this tumultuous time in my life. Thank you for your consideration.
