Session agenda publication deadline, so it was not included for consideration at that meeting. At
the November 10, 2022 work session, the Board directed staff to send the application to Board
members via email and also to include his name in this abstract in an effort to expedite filling this
long-standing vacancy. The application, as well as a recommendation letter, are attached.

Re: Agricultural Preservation Board Appointment
Dear Chair Price:
The Orange County Agricultural Preservation Board (APB) discussed recommendations
to appoint members at its regular meeting on September 21 , 2022. The APB
recommends the appointment of Mr. Vaughn Compton to serve as a district member
representing the Cedar Grove Voluntary Agricultural District. Mr. Compton resides
within the Cedar Grove district, where owns and operates his family farm that has been
enrolled in the VAD program for many years and thus meets the special requirements
for District membership.

therefore I continued on the tradition of farming. I have been farming since 1975. My family
farms tobacco and chickens. With my experience in my farming background
