PURPOSE: To consider an appointment to the Orange County Parks and Recreation Council.
BACKGROUND: The Orange County Parks and Recreation Council consults with and advises
the Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation, and the Board of County
Commissioners on matters affecting parks planning, development and operation; recreation
facilities, policies and programs; and public trails and open space.
The Board of County Commissioners appoints all 12 members with representatives from each of
the county's townships plus its municipalities.

Dear Chair Price:
As you may recall,the Board approved adding a youth delegate non-voting member to the Parks and
Recreation Council(PRC)on May 3,2022. Recruitment for the position has been completed.
The Parks and Recreation Council(PRC)discussed potential youth delegate applicants on October 5, and
recommends that the following applicant be appointed to the Council as the youth delegate:
• Sophia Fratta,to the youth delegate non-voting position.
As part of this consideration,the PRC also discussed the value of having a second youth delegate, and
hopes to bring forth a formal proposal for this at a later date.

regional level. I hope to combine these interests in nature and
sustainability with my experiences as a community builder
through the Parks and Recreation Council.
