PURPOSE: To consider an appointment to the Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory
Committee.
BACKGROUND: The Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory Committee reviews zoning
amendment requests and special/conditional use permit applications for developments within
the Northern Transition Area of Carrboro. The committee makes recommendations to the
Carrboro Board of Adjustment or Carrboro Town Council. It inventories areas of cultural,
archaeological, historical significance; areas of open space, rural character, scenic qualities,
biological values; areas of agricultural uses; and makes recommendations based on the above
studies for additional policies, goals, etc. that will preserve and enhance the special character of
this area, and relate to its growth.
The Board of County Commissioners appoints three (3) members. All members must be
residents of the Northern Transition Area. The Carrboro Town Council may make
recommendations for these positions.

RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board discuss an appointment to
the Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory Committee.

A motion was made by Council Member Foushee, seconded by Council Member Haven-
O'Donnell that the following resolution be approved:
A RESOLUTION MAKING AN APPOINTMENT TO THE
NORTHERN TRANSITION AREA ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Section 1. The Carrboro Town Council hereby appoints the following applicant to the Northern Transition
Area Advisory Committee:

Section 2. The Town of Carrboro Town Council requests that the Orange County Board of
Commissioners appoint/reappoint Jennifer Conrad to a three-year term on the Northern Area Transition
Advisory Committee.
Section 3. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
This the 11 th day of October 2022.
The motion carried unanimously by the following vote:
