SUBJECT: Changes to Planning Board & Board of Adjustment Meetings
In order to provide for better public accessibility and support board and staff needs, the
Planning Director has recommended changes for both the Planning Board and Board of
Adjustment meetings. The changes are intended to allow for more formal staff presentations
to the Board, better communication among board members, more public seating, and generally
a more formal meeting setting befitting the advisory nature of the Planning Board and the
authoritative role of the Board of Adjustment in land use and planning matters.
The Planning Board will now hold all meetings at the meeting chambers of the Whitted Building
rather than Room 204 of the West Campus Office Building. The meetings date schedule will
remain unchanged: the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.
The Board of Adjustment will continue to meet at the Whitted Building meeting chambers but
the standing meeting date is recommended to be changed from the second Monday of every
month to the second Wednesday of every month. This should eliminate scheduling conflicts
with other Orange County boards. Altering the meeting schedule for the Board of Adjustment
will require amendment of their Rules of Procedure, which is an agenda action item for their
next meeting, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, November 9.
