PURPOSE: To discuss issues of concern to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education.
BACKGROUND: The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education identified the topics listed below
as issues they wished to discuss with the Board of Commissioners at this March 25 joint work
session. Other topics identified in the Superintendent's memorandum at Attachment B are
addressed elsewhere on this work session agenda.
a. Master Planning of the Eubanks Road/Old 86 Site
This topic will be touched on under several sub-headings of agenda item #1. Specific interests
of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education are expressed in Attachment B.
b. Use of Segal Consultants
As noted in Attachment B, CHCCS have engaged the Robert Segal CPA firm for two projects
related to sales tax.
c. Communications
CHCCS has begun to post Board agendas and supporting documents on their Website,
normally on the Fridays before subsequent Thursday night Board meetings.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact tied directly to the discussion at this
meeting. However, decisions that may be made by one or more of the elected boards at
subsequent meetings are likely to have significant implications for future capital and operating
budgets.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the boards discuss the issues noted
and provide direction to staff, as appropriate.
