The afternoon session of the Board was devoted to the consideration of
the 1962-1963 budget.
There being no further business to come before the meeting the Board was
adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, July 3rd, at 8 p.m.

Minutes of the Board of Commissioners
July 3, 1962
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, July 3, 1962, at
8 o'clock p.m, in the Commissioners' room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C.
Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett,
Clarence Jones, Donald McDade and Henry Walker.
Members absent: None
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss further the 1962-1963 budget.
The following budgets were approved: All School Funds, the General Fund,
the Farm Program Fund and the Health Fund.
The County Accountant was directed to formulize all appropriations into a-.
resolution that could be adopted at the next called meeting.
There being no further business to come before the meeting the Board
was adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, July 24, 1962, at 8 o'clobk.p.m. in
the Commissioners' room.

July 24, 1962
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, July 24, 1962, at 8
o'clock p.m. in the Conanissioners' room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C.
Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett,
Clarence Jones, Donald McDade and Henry Walker,
Members absent: None
Sheriff C, D. Knight requested that he be allowed to convert funds presently
appropriated to his department as he wishes to apply these funds toward the employment
of a full time Negro Deputy. Sheriff Knight stated that it will be necessary to
appropriate an additional w1000.00 to cover the remainder of the salary expense. The
Board directed the County Accountant to adjust the tentative budget to include Sheriff
Knight's request and to advise the Sheriff that the Board would discuss the matter
with him at a later date.
