8 o'clock p.m, in the Commissioners' room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C., in
special session to continue study of the 1962-1963 county budget.
Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett,
Clarence Jones, Donald McDade and Henry S. Walker.
Members absent: None
David Slick, Director of the Hyconeechee Regional Library, presents the
proposed budget for the coming fiscal year.
G. Paul Carr, Supt, of County Schools, presented the proposed budgets for the
coming year. In Current Expense the request of this Board was for $206,937,000.00;
in Capital Outia the request was for $209,564,000.00 and for Debt Service the
request was for L16,O18,000.00.
After a question and answer session the Chairman adjourned the members of
the Board of Education and informed these members that they would be called back
at a later date for a discussion on certain items in their budget.
There being no further business this meeting was adjourned to meet again on
Thursday, June 14th at 8 o'clock p.m.

June 14, 1962
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Thursday, June 14, 1962, at
8 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners' room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. in
a special joint session with the Board of Public Welfare.
Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett,
Clarence Jones, Donald.McDade and Henry S. Walker.
Members absent: None
made. The proposed budgets were discussed in detail but no final..dscisions were
.
The joint meeting then adjourned.
The Board then met with the Supt, and Members of the Chapel Hill School
Unit to discuss its budgetary request for the coming fiscal year. Dr. Johnston
discussed the Current Expense budget in detail. This Budget was based upon an
allotment of $38.00 per student.
School Board Chairman, J. Kempton Jones, discussed .the Capital Outlay budget
in detail.
At the conclusion of these discussion Chairman Stanford advised the School
Board that when actual revenue estimates were completed he would again talk to
this Board to discuss the probable effect on the School Board's budget.
There being no further business this meeting was adjourned to meet again on
Tuesday, June 22nd, at 8 o'clock p.m.

The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 22, 1962, at
8 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners, room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C., in
special session to continue budget sessions.
Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett,
Clarence Jones, Donald McDade and Henry Walker.
Members absent: None
The Register of Deeds, the Clerk of Court and-the Sherrifbf presented their
budgetary request. These requests were given due consideration but no final decision
was made.
