PURPOSE: To consider pne reappointment and one new appointment to the Visitors Bureau
of Chapel Hill /Orange County (Visitors Bureau).
BACKGROUND: Mr. Creston Woods and Mr. Lawrence Walters are serving in the two
positions allotted to the Orange County Lodging Association on the Visitors Bureau,
Mr. Woods' second term will expire on December 31, 2003. The O,C. Lodging Association has
recommended Mr. Mark Sherburne, General Manager of the Siena Hotel, Chapel Hill, as Mr,
Woods' replacement. This would be a three-year term to expire December 31, 2006,
Mr. Walters' first term will expire on December 31, 2003, He has expressed interest in being
reappointed. His would also be a three-year term which would expire December 31, 2006,
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider appointments to the Visitors Bureau of Chapel Hill /
Orange County as the Board may decide,

Thanks for the information. Regarding your questions fof terms expiring as of 12/31/03, the following is
what I know at this point.
(1) Pat Evans - I'm unsure whether or not she'll be reappointed. Her Council is up for reelection and she
has not indicated whether or not she'll run again.
(2} Nancy Davis/UNC's seat -Nancy has been informed and her office will coordinate with the Chancellor
for a recommended replacement.

In official action on 6/ t 7/03 the following reappointments were made by the Orange County Board of
County Commissioners to the Visitors Bureau:
Sam Hobgood, Ann Loeb, and Bill Crowther.
In official action on 6/23/03 the following new appointments were made to the Visitors Bureau:
Rick Stnink, unexpired term, expires 12/31/2004, to rep. NC H.S. Athletic Assoc.
Lee Pavao, first full term, to expire 12/31/2005, to rep, CH-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce.
I will be forwarding copies of their reapp/app. letters to you for your files,
LOOKING AHEAD: TERM ENDING DATES OF 12/31/2003:

terms for now -Please contact UNC Chapel Hill to notify them of need for a replacement appointment.
