PURPOSE: To receive a report from the Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) on the status of
present and potential future regional transit initiatives. Interim General Manager Don Carnell
and Senior Transportation Planner Juanita Shearer-Swink will present the report and answer
questions.
BACKGROUND: For the past few months, TTA has been very active in pursuing regional
transit objectives. Because the implementation of a regional transit system is of great
importance to Orange County, it would be useful to have TTA brief the Board of Commissioners
on the status of TTA activities. Of particular interest will be the progress of Phase I and the
planning for Phase II, along with the financial implications of these activities.

RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the report as
information.
