BACKGROUND: The charge of the Animal Services Advisory Board is to advise the Board of County Commissioners on matters of concern regarding animal issues and animals services in Orange County and to work with the Animal Services Director (or designee) on various policy concerns and issues regarding County animal services. The Board of County Commissioners appoints all thirteen (13) members with representation from various related fields and municipalities. Animal Services Advisory Board: Submitted Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool: Submitted Interests & Experiences Relevant Experience Board #1 Currently I am the founder and Executive Director of Fluff Responders Animal Rescue, a 501(c)3, all- volunteer, foster-based rescue for cats. In addition to rescuing, caring for, and adopting stray cats we also do TNR, community cat food bank, and ad hoc support of other animal rescues. Additionally I am a volunteer with Orange County Animal Services with roughly 2,300 volunteer hours and a volunteer (Primate Technician Assistant) with the Duke Lemur Center. Reasons Want to Serve Board #1 I have a strong commitment to animal welfare and living in a community that compassionately cares for animals and their caregivers. I would like to actively participate in continuing and advancing animal welfare in Orange County. Between my career and my volunteer work I have seen much overlap in the needs of human and animal care delivery. This ranges from developing and supporting employees in a stressful environment to process improvement. I believe that my breadth of experience working in animal welfare and my decades of managing staff gives me a good blend of perspective and the ability to have difficult conversations. Diversity of Viewpoints Board #2 My extensive experience doing adoption counseling at OCAS exposed me to the breadth of animal- related cultural norms in our community. Overlaying this has been my own education as I have spent more years in animal welfare. I have also had friends go through the experience of working with OCAS on dog bites from both sides.
