TERMINATION OF ORANGE COUNTY
STATE OF EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Orange County was under threat from severe winter weather, which was forecasted
to result in ice accumulation to Orange County over the previous 48 hours; and
WHEREAS, I have determined that there is no longer an imminent threat of widespread or
severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property, or conditions that may disrupt essential services
and systems:
Section 1. Pursuant to the Orange County's Code of Ordinances, Part I, Chapter 14, Article II,
Sec. 12-31, and as authorized by Chapter 166A of the North Carolina General Statues, the
previous State of Emergency declared on February 17, 2021 is hereby rescinded within the
jurisdiction of Orange County,North Carolina and all included towns.
Section 2. The Orange County Manager is further directed to: (a) distribute this rescission to the
news media and other organizations calculated to bring its contents to the attention of the general
public; (b) file this declaration with the Clerk to the Orange County Board of Commissioners and
display a copy prominently on the Orange County website; (c) distribute the declaration as
necessary to ensure its full implementation; and(d) submit a signed copy of this Declaration to
the Department of Public Safety WebEOC.
Section 3. This rescission shall become effective immediately. Proclaimed this the 19 Day of
February, 2021, at 5:00 PM.
