Pickett and Driehuys assisted AS in finding shelter for a homeless person and his dog and providing tick treatment so the dog could accompany the owner to shelter. o Still searching for placement of wolf-dogs (Asheville, Maine),but they are not "adoptable." Some are starting to show stress behaviors,but they are being treated with medication as needed and are allowed to run alone in enclosures. o Shelter medicine student training to be held at the shelter and at Saving Grace. - Pat Sanford Grant 0 2 applicants reviewed by the committee o No recommendation made to the ASAB at this time o Committee will present its recommendation to the ASAB by email to vote on the recipient before the next meeting if there is a time constraint Review of public participation guidelines General public comments on items not on agenda: NA Monthly Meeting Attendance Record (confirm completion): Confirmed Animal Services Advisory Board Old Business: - Update on Wolf/Dog hybrids o WRAL reported on wolf-dog ("Gurl")killed in Orange County o Ed Tiryakian drafted a letter from ASAB in response (but did not send it). o Dr. Strong has not received negative feedback from the BOCC and the County Manager has been very supportive and feels that it is not necessary to send it - Updates from Second Chance Committee o Enforce the County ordinance in a comprehensive/holistic way by looking at the context o Unable to change the local ordinance - Remote Location Committee o Public schools will not allow members of public into schools, so this is not an option for a location o Need to report to Clerk by mid-December dates and locations of 2022 meetings o ASAB meetings to resume at Eubanks Road in January 2022 - Update on Wild and Dangerous Animals Ordinance Committee (Bryan) o 5 divisions in current ordinance, ■ Division 1: definitions of exotic animal and wild animals. • Within ordinance is clause that equates wild animals with dangerous animals. • Exotic animals not domesticated animal and not native to North Carolina ■ Division 4 refers to display of wild and dangerous animals ■ Division 5 refers to keeping of wild and dangerous animals • ASAB previously addressed this section • Sent for approval to county attorney who sent back comments that also included Division 4 o Committee is looking to merge divisions 4 and 5 and Bryan Stuart prepared draft for review and further discussion at the next meeting ■ Simplified language ■ Same intent and scope with the exception of no longer allowing "display" of undomesticated animals Solutions to Noisy Rooster Complaints: Committee created to address this issue: Ed, Brenda, Alan, Lori, Lucia Informal Discussion: Reversal of the policy for removal of Red Wolves from the Endangered Species list Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 8:09 p.m.
