New Business:
Donation of Tennis balls for Dog toys
Meggie Romick inquired about the possibility of accepting used tennis balls for toys for Animal
Services Dogs. Dr. Driehuys, Dr. Pickett, and Dr. Strong agreed that these are suitable short
term toys, however long term use could damage teeth. OCAS currently has a good supply on
hand, donations are placed in the drop box. Members of the committee identified other rescue
groups who might be able to use them, and will make availability know to them.
Old Business:
Animal Services Advisory Board Fulfillments:
• Alan Polak will resign from his current position on the hearing panel, and will be re-
designated as chair. May require County Commissioner Approval.
Wild and Dangerous Animal Committee
• The Wild and Dangerous Animal Committee will draft a proposal which combines Division 4
and Division 5. Upon completion this revision will be forwarded to legal for review and
approval.
• Update on Wolf Dogs
• Staff continues working to place these dogs. Issues of suitable placement locations, and
appropriate transport are being researched and considered.
• Remote venues for ASAB
Lucia Welborne will visit Rogers road Community Center again to discuss a meeting time.
• Committee on racial equity and animal welfare:
• No report at this time.
• Second chance for dogs initiative
• OCASAB will not pursue adoption of the Wake County ordinance, but will continue
reviewing ordinances that more closely meet the need for less serious designations while
protecting the community.
