The noise on some days continues unabated and at a volume as to be disruptive to their peace and quiet. o Would like ASAB to revisit the local ordinance to consider extending it beyond town limits. Monthly Meeting Attendance Record (confirm completion): confirmed New Business • Note: The ASAB will resume meeting in person with the August 2021 meeting • Note: ASAB chair asking for a volunteer to fill outgoing secretary role Animal Services Advisory Board • Fulfillments o Brenda Smith approved by BOCC o David Francis not yet approved • Immediate vacancies o Town of Carrboro representative o Town of Chapel Hill representative ■ Rachel to seek further information on shifting Meggie Romick's representation to Town of Chapel Hill if possible Old Business: • Update on Wild and Dangerous Animals Ordinance o No updates, seeking to meet with town lawyer before August ASAB meeting • Noisy roosters encroaching on neighbor's peace and quiet o Consideration of a committee to investigate the issue ■ Allan, Lee, Ed willing to participate ■ No volunteers to chair • Remote venues for ASAB o Three venue categories ■ Rural community centers ■ Town community centers ■ Schools o Ed, Allan, Lucia looking into the viability/feasibility of each venue type • Committee on racial equity and animal welfare o On hold until OCAS Director Dr. Strong starts • Second chance for dogs initiative o Susan, Lee, Ed, Lori, Allan volunteered to participate on committee to create and submit a bill to earn Orange County an exemption from the state statute on dangerous dogs to pilot a "second chance" local ordinance o No volunteers for chair Informational Items • MAY 2021 Monthly Statistics for Sheltering Operations • MAY 2021 Monthly Statistics for Field Services Informal Discussion • Lori Gershon volunteers to be the secretary for the ASAB Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
