PURPOSE: To consider an appointment to the Information Technology Advisory Committee
(IT Committee).
BACKGROUND: There is one vacancy on the IT Committee. Also, effective ,January 1, 2004,
there will be two more positions available because the second terms of Mr. Joel Dunn, Chair,
and Mr, Frank D. Smith will expire on December 31, 2003,
One recommendation has been made to appoint Mr, Frederick S. Brown, 2200 Old Forest
Drive, Hillsborough, NC 27278, to a first term to expire December 31, 2006.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making an appointment/appointments to the Information
Technology Advisory Committee as the Board may decide.

advisory boards and comm(ssions as adopted by the Orange County Board of Commiss(oners.
Members of advisory boards and wmmissfons shall not diswss, advocate, or vote on any matter In
which they have a conUlet or potential congict of interest or an Interest which reasonably might
appear to be In conftid with the concept oltairnass in dealing with public business. A conflict of
interest or a potential congict occurs Ii a member has a separate, private, or monetary interest, either
direct or indirect, In any Issue or transaction under consideration. Any member who violates this
provision maybe subject to removal From the board or commisslon.
