Board Members present: Anita Mills, Vice-Chair, Delia Keefe, Secretary; Linda Williamson,
Sean Bailey, Dan Mayer, Crystal Wu, Lindsay Metivier, Krista Bremer, Brad Porter, John
Bemis, Hannah Fatool, Justin Haslett
Board Members absent: Fred Joiner, Marlon Torres, Sarah Shore
Staff Present: Katie Murray, Executive Director
1) Anita called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.
2) Krista moved to approve the August minutes.
Dan seconded. The minutes were approved.
3) Director's Report:
a) Eno Mill Update
i) Grand Opening 10-1
This is an arts space for everyone. Food trucks and beverages
will be outdoors. Board members will greet at the doors in shifts.
Signage will direct people and will state covid policy. Board
members will wear badges.
ii) OCAA and revenue
The OCAA will handle the majority of financial issues for the
commission, not including the rent. Caterri Woodrum, CPA
will serve as treasurer.
iii) Board hosts for openings
On hold.
b) 5' Annual Paint it Orange Plein Air Paint-out
This will take place November 3-5. The commission will be in
charge of this event. The preview party will be held the hour before
for all the sponsors.
c) Arts Educator grants
Open now through the end of September. These are small grants
of$250 for professional development and artistic opportunities.
4) OCAC/OCAA joint board gathering
This will be held September 23rd at Krista's. A discussion
regarding covid safety followed.
5) Liaison reports
a) UNC Student Liaison Report
Back in full swing. Theater groups are producing shows. New people
are involved after this time lapse. It is a problem to find venues in
Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and on campus. Groups are working on making
new connections.
b) Chapel Hill Arts Commission
Will hold 1 It
meeting soon.
c) UNC
What is the best way forward— in person, virtual, or hybrid?
d) Hillsborough Arts Council
The council is looking for more board members. Financial knowledge
and diversity are important.
e) The ArtsCenter
Classes and afterschool programs are up and running. The ArtsCenter
will host the OCAG in October and the Chatham Artists Guild in
November. The ArtsCenter is looking for a marketing director.
The gala on October 2 will be a virtual event.
f) Carrboro Arts
Will cancel its music festival.
g) Visitors Bureau
Will meet this coming week.
h) OCAG
Brochures are coming out soon.
6) Restart the Arts Grant funding approval
Katie thanked John, Krista, Justin, and Linda for serving on the panel.
These grants are need based. The organizations impact and budget
size are considered.
Krista made a motion to approve. Sean seconded.
Linda moved to adjourn the meeting. Krista seconded.
Anita adjourned the meeting at 7:20 pm.
