Board Members absent:Fred Joiner; Krista Bremer, Marlon Torres, Lindsay Metivier
Staff Present: Katie Murray, Executive Director; Emilie Menzel, Assistant
1) Anita called the meeting to order at 6:33pm.
2) Board members introduced themselves and welcomed Sarah Shore.
3) The April 2021 minutes were approved with corrections.
4) Director's Report:
a) Eno Mill Update
Taking over the new space at the mill has been approved.
We will need a lot of volunteer support. The priority will be
to fill the space with arts and cultural organizations that
need space. Space for both small and large classes will
be rented out hourly.
b) ARP Request
Katie submitted a proposal to Travis Myren for$650k of
American Rescue Plan funds. This funding would allow
for reopening grants, seed funding for Eno Mill arts space,
OCAC operations coordinator, filling budget deficit gap,
DEI Training Program, seed funding for youth theater, and
Art on the Hill. Katie may ask for letters of support to the
County Commissioners.
c) Grants Update
i) OCASF Round 5 - will be open through the end of May
for grassroots and artist's project grants. We hope to have
additional funding. Panelists will be needed in early June.
ii) GAP/APG 2021 —opening this week through the end
of June. The week of July 19th is the most likely time
for reviews.
5) Liaison Reports
a) UNC Student Liaison
The school year is wrapping up. There have been some online
readings in April and short films online.
b) Chapel Hill Arts Commission—no update.
c) UNC
ArtWalk will go through the summer.
d) Hillsborough Arts Council
The Last Fridays Art Walk took place last week with music,
poets, and galleries.
e) The ArtsCenter
Summer camps are 65% full and in-person camps are doing well.
The 10 x10 Theater Festival is scheduled for September. The
capital campaign will be fully staffed soon.
f) Carrboro Arts
Internship applications are being accepted.
g) Visitor's Bureau
Business is picking up,particularly leisure and events.
h) OCAG
The guild is forming committees for the fall tour.
