Board Members present: Anita Hill, Vice Chair,-Delia Keefe, Secretary; Linda Williamson,
Justin Haslett,Matthew Keith, Bronwyn Merritt, Sean Bailey, Brad Porter, Tim Hoke, Tinka
Jordy, Krista Bremer
Board Members absent: Fred Joiner, Dan Mayer, Marlon Torres, Marcella Slade
Staff Present: Katie Murray, Executive Director; Emilie Menzel, Assistant
L Anita called the meeting to order at 6:37pm.
II. Brad moved to approve the February 2021 minutes. Matthew seconded.
III. Board Update
a. There is one vacant position to be filled.
IV. Director's Report:
a. The FY21-22 budget is looking at a 30% decrease. This translates to a 50%
decrease in programming. The county will try to find
extra funds to help bridge the gap.
b. WRAL Big Night in for the Arts — March 11
The majority of the proceeds will go back out in the form of
relief grants.
c. Haunted production by Sonny Kelly
ArtsCenter, March 27'. Commissioned in partnership with OC
Remembrance Coalition, Free Spirit Freedom, The ArtsCenter,
and OCAC.
d. ArtsDay 2021—March 22-24
Online this year. Katie has complimentary tickets.
V. Liaison Reports
a. UNC Student Liaison
There are some student theater events in April. Most of the
student led groups are not very active at this time.
b. Chapel Hill Arts Commission
The commission is rethinking some events and is looking into
diversity issues. Funding has been found to maintain
existing public arts.
c. Hillsborough Arts Council
d. The ArtsCenter
There will be a public hearing about the new building tomorrow
night.
e. Carrboro Arts
f. Visitor's Bureau
The bureau is struggling to boost revenues.
g. OCAG
The Tour will be in-person this year.
VI. Advocacy/Other Updates
a. June is the target date for the completion of Jonathan
Brilliant's oak piece.
