Board Members present: Fred Joiner, Chair, Anita Hill, Vice Chair;

Board Members absent:
Staff Present: Katie Murray, Executive Director; Emilie Menzel, Assistant
L Fred called the meeting to order at 6:33pm.
II. All board members introduced themselves to the group.
III. Krista moved to approve the March 2021 minutes. Linda seconded.
IV. Board Update
a. Sarah Shore is approved and will be appointed in May.
We will have a full board as of May.
IV. Director's Report:
a. Eno Mill Update
Katie will relocate her office to a forward facing area at
the front of the mill. Advantages of the move include a very
reduced rental rate, an external door, and space for classes,
performance, and exhibits. Katie will discuss financial issues
with her boss this week.
b. The FY21-22 Budget Update
The budget has experienced a 30% loss this year and
a 70% loss is projected for next year. The arts need some
of the American Rescue Plan funds. OCAC is requesting
$6000 which is 2% of the county money. The funds will
be used for programs, training, and operations support.
c. Big Night in for the Arts proceeds discussion
The net proceeds for Orange County are $40,000.
Funding will go to relief grants, diversity and inclusion
training, and arts and education.
d. Grants Update
The regular cycle will open in May for grassroots and
artist's project grants. Panels will meet in July for one or
two nights as needed.
V. Liaison Reports
a. UNC Student Liaison
Student arts events are picking up. Student short plays,
musical theater, and voice concerts are streaming live.
b. Chapel Hill Arts Commission
The commission is rethinking some community events.
There is an opening on the commission for a resident of
Carrboro.
c. Hillsborough Arts Council
The gallery is open. A new person has been hired for the
gallery and for social media.
d. The ArtsCenter
12 in-school artist residencies are wrapping up. Summer camps
will be both in-person and online. The gallery will open
in September.
e. Carrboro Arts
f. Visitor's Bureau
Tourism is coming back slowly. It is difficult to fill positions
with people with the right skills.
g. OCAG
The guild is forming committees for the fall tour.

Fred curated the MFA show at the Ackland.
Fred moved to adjourn the meeting. Justin seconded.
Fred adjourned the meeting at 7:54pm.
