GECOUNTY BOA. F COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPOINTMENT OF COREY ROOT TO THE
CENTRAL PIEDMONT COMMUNITY ACTION, INC . BOARD OF DIRECTORS
WHEREAS , Central Piedmont Community Action, Inc . ( CPCA) , formerly known as Joint
Orange - Chatham Community Action, Inc . (JOCCA) until March 2016 , is a private nonprofit
human service organization established in March 1966 by the Board of Commissioners of Orange
and Chatham Counties to seek funds , administer programs and provide services to low- income
families and individuals ; and
WHEREAS , CPCA mobilizes resources from federal, state and local governments as well
as private foundations ; and
WHEREAS , programs are developed and approved under the guidance of the Board of
Directors , consisting of representatives from the private , public and low-income sectors of the
counties , with public representatives on the Board of Directors being designated by the County
Commissioners ; and
WHEREAS , historically, the Director of the Orange County Department of Housing and
Community Development has been designated as a member of the Board of Directors ; and
WHEREAS , the new Department Director, Corey Root, must be approved by the Board of
Commissioners to be appointed to the CPCA Board of Directors ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of
Commissioners authorizes the appointment of Corey Root to the Central Piedmont Community
Action, Inc . (CPCA) Board of Directors .
