PURPOSE: To cansitler authorizing the release of funtls that were appropriatetl m [he Triangle
J Council of Governments (TJCGG) by the General Assembly.
BACKGROUND: Each year, the North Carolina General Assembly appropriates funds to the
eighteen Councils of Government across the sbte [o promote economic development eHoda. A
m of $55,000 was approprlatetl to each Council of Govemment (COG) for FY 2001 to assist
with regional ewnomic tlevelopment activities. Of Ttlangle J COG's $55,000 appropriation,
$4,389.94 is due to Me COG basetl on Orange COUMy's populefion. The State appropriation bill
requires that each County's share must be leasetl by the County to the COG, or [he funding
reverts to [he State's General FuM. The edachetl resduuon would authorize the release of
Orange County's share of these funtls to the TJCGG.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no tlirect impact on Orange County, as this action represents a
pass through of State footle
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommentls that the SOaN Of Commissioners
approve the attached resolution antl authorze the Chair to sign it.
