An Informational meeling will be held in Ne Judge F. Gordon Batlle Superior
Coudrocm of the New Orange County Courthouse, 106 E Margaret Lane,
Hillsborough, North Carolina, on Monday, November 28, 2001, at approximately
8:30 p.m. This meeting will follow the completion of the Wblic hearing on an
unrelated mafter.
The purpose of this Comm is to provide infgimation regading the development of
an updatetl comprehensive plan for Orange County. The original plan was
createtl in 1981 with subsequent amendments thereafter This meeting will
highlight the tlemographic changes that have occurred in the county and some
grewlh management concepts that ere witlely used to promote queliry
development. There will be no items up for consitlemtion or vote on this topic at
this meeting. AtltlRbnal meetings will ba schetluled for eatly next year.
The new plan can be based on the principle of balance end allocation of
resources; the itlea that emnpmio, social, antl environmental factors shoultl be
balanced when consitlering new development An explanation of these
principles and their role in land uea will be presented. A 45-minute presentation
by planning staff is anticipated followed by questions and answers. Comment is
