PURPOSE: To hears presentation from Institute of Government consultant Kevin FitzGeraltl
on the first part of the Organizational Assessment -Phase 2 Information Technology review.
BACKGROUND: At its September 4, 2001 meeting, the Boartl of Commissioners approved a
proposal from the Institute of Government for a Phase 2 Information TachnclogY review to be
adtletl to the Organizational Assessment -Phase 1 Strategic Communica0ons Review -then in
progress. Atthe November 26 work sessioq Institute of Governmen[consuttant Kevin
FifzGemld will mekaa presentation on the Brs[ part of hle woB reviewing the County's
Information Technology function. His presentaton will cover broad conteMUal issues related to
the management of'mformation technology services for North Carolina counties. The
Information presented will inclutle pertinent benchmark comparisons that have been matle with
other North Carolina counties and cdies.
The foal report, including Bntlings antl recommantlatidns related to Orange County's
Information Technology functions, will be presented in January.
