BACKGROUND: On June 7, the Board authorized the County's purchase of an estimated 8- acre property from Duke University for a future Hollow Rock Access Area, consistent with the adapted Lands Legacy Action Plan and the New Hope Corridor Open Space Master Plan. The purchase of this land is expected to be completed by mid-August. Prior to the closing, Orange County subdivision regulations required that the subject property be divided from a larger tract owned by Duke University by way of the minor subdivision process, The stbdivision rules required that an additional five feet of right-of-way be dedicated along the northern boundary of the property with Erwin Road (S.R 1737), Duke University executed the subdivision plat of the property making this public road dedication, The Board is now being asked to ratify acceptance of this dedication on behalf of the public without maintenance responsibility.
