PURPOSE: To consitler the appointment of Mc Brian R. Poplin to an Extratemmrial
Judstlic[ion (ETJ) position on the Hillsborough BcaN of Adjustment.
BACKGROUND: Pursuant to GS i60A-362, the Town of Hillsbomugh edoptatl a Resolu[lon on
October 8, 2001, received in the Caunry Clerk's office on October 15, 2001, requesting the
apPOintmen[ of Mr. Brian R. Poplin, who resitles whhin [he town limits, to a vacant ETJ seat.
The Boartl of County Commissionere hoe 90 tlays from receipt of the Resolution [o make this
appointment, aker which the Hillsbomugh BoaN of Commissionere may make the appointment.
GS i60A-362 states, "If there is an insufficient number of qualified residents of [he area to meet
membership requirements, the board of county commissioners may appoint as many other
residents of the county as necessary to make up the requisite number:'
