PURPOSE: Tc consitler proposetl amendments b the Orange County Subdivision
Regulations Section IV-e-3 Streets, to clarify:
1. Secion IV-B-3-a, provision of atreete rights-of-way: antl
2. Section IV-B-3.b, provision far a mordinaled street system.
BACKGROUND: Subtlivision Regulatons require provision Of street dgNtsof-way antl that
ell aubtlWlslone to have "e mortlinatetl street system via a public or private street.".
Proposetl amendments wpultl clarify:
1. Provlalon of evae[e tlgM-of-way intludes dgMSOf-way for proposetl NNre transporta4on
facildies inclutletl in atlopted local and regional trenapodation plans.
2. Provision fora moMinated street system inclutles:
• extension of subdivision public roads to tlevelopeble edjacen[bis or to wnnek wdh
existing public streets; antl
• limited tlriveway aopess on major subdivision streets.
Planning staff prescvrcetl the proposetl amentlments on September 27, 2001 et a joint public
headng before the Orange County BoaN of County Commiasionare antl the Orange County
Planning Boartl. The Bpartl of County Commissioners refertetl the amendments W the
Planning BoeN far Bs recommentlation. The Planning Board wnsidered the proposed
amentlments at its meeting on Ocfober 3. 2001, antl votetl unanimously to rewmmentl that
the BoeN o! County Commissioners adopt the amentlments.
